Blue Flame Cafe

Thank you for supporting the Blue Flame Café in Peoples Center! We have been very pleased with the overall traffic to the Café, and with the freshness and variety of the choices prepared for employees. Now that we have been in operation for a few months, we will be making a couple of adjustments to make sure we're providing optimal, effective service.

Breakfast Hours

Coffee and hot breakfast service will run from 7:00 – 9:00 am. Continental Breakfast will be available from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. 

Starbucks Hours

Starbucks service will be available from 6:45 am to 1:45 pm. As always, complimentary coffee is provided in the pantries on all floors.

Pantry Vending Machine

The fresh food vending machine located in the Second Floor West pantry has seen minimal sales, and we have been forced to throw food away almost daily. To keep this option available, we are going to move the machine to the 5th floor. We have had requests from our fifth floor neighbors for food access. This change will occur in the next couple weeks.

Peoples Dispatch and Gas Control employees who work off hours will automatically be given elevator access to continue using the pantry vending machine. If you would like to request continued access to this machine on the 5th floor, please contact Mark Pietrone (Mark.Pietrone@peoples-gas.com).

Fitness Center

The Fitness Center in Peoples Center (375 North Shore) is open to all Peoples employees who complete the required waiver (no contractors are permitted to use the facility, for liability reasons). It is also free!

The Fitness Center is located on the second floor and features a variety of weights, aerobic equipment, and even cable TV! All you have to do is sign the waiver below and send it to Mark Pietrone and Linda Gitzen. Once they receive your waiver, they will activate your Peoples ID badge within 48 hours so that it opens the Fitness Center. A couple of other important things to note: 

  • You use the Fitness Center at your own risk
  • Absolutely NO deadlifting is permitted
  • Absolutely NO dropping of weights
  • Locker rooms are available
  • Lockers are also available, and they are not assigned. Please only use the lockers when you are in the gym
  • The Fitness Center is a self-maintained facility, so please be responsible when using it

Download the Waiver 

The following guidelines are in place during the COVID-19 pandemic: 

  • Usage of the fitness center will be limited to the week/s that you are scheduled to be in the office
  • A maximum of 4 people (2 men and 2 women) are allowed in the fitness center at one time
  • A maximum of 1 person is allowed in each locker room at one time
  • A daily sign-up schedule broken into 1-hour increments has been created and will be available in the 1st floor lobby by the main entrance
  • You must sign-up in-person at the sign-up area in the 1st floor lobby to schedule your workout
  • Upon entering and exiting the fitness center during your designated time, you must complete the sign-up sheet located outside the fitness center door
  • We ask that you keep your workout to a 1 hour timeframe. Please exit the fitness cetner at your end time and be mindful not to congregage in the sapce
  • The sign-up sheet for the following week will be available each Friday morning at 9 a.m.
  • The operation times for the fitness center will be:
    • M-Th 5 a.m. - 8 p.m.
    • Fri 5 a.m. - 7 p.m. 
    • Sat-Sun 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Please note the following items:

    • A mask must be worn at all times while in the Fitness Center, even when exercising on the equipment, as required by the PA Department of Health
    • Please be sure to sign in and out of the Fitness Center using the sign-in sheet provided at the entrance to the Fitness Center. This is very important for contact tracing reasons
    • Please wipe down the equipment before and after each use, including remote controls. Wipes are provided
    • Free weights and related equipment are off limits at this time; you will only be permitted to use designated cardio equipment
    • Please use designated equipment only and follow posted signs
    • Please make sure that everything you bring into the Fitness Center is taken when you leave; anything remaining in the locker room afterhours will be discarded without exception. Lockers are only for use during your 1 hour designated time in the Fitness Center
    • All of the equipment in the Fitness Center has been sanitized and has recently been inspected/serviced for maintenance
    • Hand Sanitizer and wipes are available in the Fitness Center. If you see something that needs refilled, please contact the Facilities Department
    • The Fitness Center and equipment are cleaned each evening by our cleaning crew
